20/11/2011 - Windows 2003 End Of Support Announcement

We have been providing Windows 2003 shared and reseller hosting services since we started back in September 2004. Windows Server 2003 is approaching 9 Years old with the next Windows Server release arriving within the next 12-18months its time for us to stop supplying Windows 2003 services.

A large number of our customers have already migrated to our Windows 2008 servers and have seen a vast improvement in performance and reliability.

We intend to remove all Windows 2003 Servers from production by May 1st 2012.

To complete this on schedule starting March 1st 2012 we will be contacting each Windows 2003 hosting customer on an individual basis to schedule the migration of their websites to our Windows 2008 servers.

As both our Windows 2003 and 2008 servers use the same email, DNS and database infrastructure only website configuration and data will be moved everything else will stay where it is.

Customers will be provided with additional information closer to May 2012. More

20/11/2011 - PHP 5.1 & MySQL 4.1 End of Support Announcement

PHP 5.1 End of Support
PHP 5.1 was made end of life back in 2006/2007; we have continued to support it for legacy applications.

PHP 5.1 will be removed from all servers on 6th February 2012. At that point websites still using PHP 5.1 will be automatically switched to PHP 5.2.

Customers have until 6th February to make sure their applications are compatible with PHP 5.2

Unfortunately the Helm control panel doesn't label the PHP versions correctly
Version 4 is actually 5.2
Version 5 is actually 5.3

Customers can no longer enable PHP 5.1 within the control panel; if you need PHP 5.1 enabling you will need to raise a support ticket by emailing support@dhosting.co.uk.

As PHP 5.2 was made end of life back in 2010 we would strongly advise moving to PHP 5.3 rather than 5.2. We intend to remove PHP 5.2 from service during summer 2012.

Special note for CubeCart v4 customers
Zend Optimizer doesn't support PHP 5.2.17 which is used by CubeCart to encode their PHP files to stop owners from bypassing license checks. CubeCart v4 customers need to enable IonCube encoder support within their shop configuration file. Any customer requiring assistance with this can raise a ticket by emailing support@dhosting.co.uk. CubeCart v5 is not affected as it uses PHP 5.3 which has Zend Guard support.

MySQL 4.1 End of Support
MySQL 4.1 was made end of life back in 2009 as with PHP 5.1 we have continued to support it for legacy applications.

On 13th February 2012 we will be removing the MySQL 4.1 server from our platform.

Customers need to move their MySQL 4.1 databases to our MySQL 5 server. This can be done by using the export and import facilities within phpMyAdmin available at http://phpmyadmin.gbdns.net.

Please note the current MySQL 4 server address is mysql.gbdns.net:3307
The MySQL 5 server address is mysql.gbdns.net

Customers who need assistance with moving their databases can raise a ticket by emailing support@dhosting.co.uk.

We do request all customers check within the control panel to make sure they don't have any old MySQL 4.1 databases they have forgotten about. To make the process easier we do request you delete any un-used databases so we can see exactly who hasn't moved their databases to MySQL 5. More
